Stacy Cates has been a Photoshop user since version 2.0. For more than two decades, she has taught clients in numerous U.S. cities in group and one-on-one classes.

She believes thoughtful listening, patience, adjusting to different learning styles, and being available after class - and beyond - for questions are important parts of her teaching priority: making sure students have achieved their learning goals.

An artist and a graphic designer, Stacy has extensive real-world experience using Photoshop for print, web, and high-end photo retouching. She has studied the writings of Photoshop greats, such as Dan Margulis of the Professional Photoshop books, Bruce Frazier of Real World Color, Scott Kelby, Katrin Eismann, Julieanne Kost, and more.

Her personal interests include being an avid reader of science and technology trends, a grower of gardens, a lover of nature, animals, and an experimenter in all manner of creative projects.

Requirements for Class
  1. Bring a computer that meets these operating system requirements.
  2. Adobe's most current update of Photoshop version CC 2017 should be installed on your computer before class. The current version of Photoshop can be purchased for $9.99 per month with Adobe's Photography Plan or by purchasing an Adobe Creative Cloud plan that comes with all Adobe apps. If you wish, you may download a Photoshop 7-day free trial.  You will have the option to convert it to a paid plan when the trial ends.  
  3. Before class, know the basics of your computer's operating system, including how to make shortcuts to files in your navigation dialog (such as in the Quick Access or Favorites menu), how to save files into folders, how to create new folders, and where to find files that you download from the internet.
